Young transport campaigners have called for bus ticketing to be made cheaper and clearer to encourage more people to use services.
Lib Dem Cllr Mike Thomas (Bitton), who chairs South Gloucestershire’s Public Transport Forum, said, “Last September two students lodged a petition of over 1,000 signatories at the forum calling for cheaper tickets. They had gone to a great deal of effort but sadly South Gloucestershire Council has been very slow to respond. I have been doing what I can, including talking to First Bus about their loyalty bonus schemes and discount Student Cards. At a meeting last week, I asked them about simplifying their fare structure and encouraged them to publicise better the schemes that are available.”
